# Am I Eligible To Be a Residency Mentor?

#### *The information below this sentence pertains to residency programs whose most recent accreditation date occured on or before June 30, 2025.  *

  The requirements to serve as a residency mentor are listed in the [Orthotic/Prosthetic Residency Standards](https://ncope.org/index.php/home-page-v2/residency-program-services/orthotic-prosthetic-residency-standards/) under Standard 4.2.  The requirements include a combination of education, post-certification/licensure experience, and completion of either the [Online Residency Program Development Course](https://ncope.org/index.php/home-page-v2/residency-program-services/residency-directors-mentors-and-administrator-information/residency-residency-program-development-course/) sections II & III **or **the [Approved Clinical Mentor (ACM)](https://ncope.org/index.php/home-page-v2/residency-program-services/residency-directors-mentors-and-administrator-information/residency-approved-clinical-mentor-acm/) course.  A flow chart has been created to help identify if a person is eligible to be a mentor.  ![](https://ncope.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/Am-I-Eligible-to-Be-a-Residency-Mentor-July2023.png)
