Prosthetic Education is an educational accreditor which functions to create standards and guidelines for orthotic, prosthetic, and pedorthic educational programs at the academic institution and post-graduate level, including residency education. States with licensure may have specific requirements, including length of residency, location of residency, and qualifications of residency director. It is the responsibility of the candidate and host\/sponsor institution to comply with any state, regional, or federal regulations that supersede the NCOPE standards. To learn more about state licensing laws, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abcop.org\/state-licensure\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Board for Certification\u2019s licensing pages.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Post Residency:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ncope.org\/index.php\/home-page-v2\/residency-and-professional-experiences\/verification-of-residency-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">State Licensure Residency Completion Verification Request Form<\/a><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;Non-Compete Agreements&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Non-Compete Agreements&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>NCOPE\u2019s philosophical position continues to remain the same regarding non-compete agreements and residency. That is, NCOPE does not look favorably on the use of non-competes at any time during residency. However, based upon legal recommendation, NCOPE cannot ban non-competition agreements, <strong>but they must be fully disclosed and signed prior to the start of the residency program.\u00a0<\/strong>Requesting that a resident sign a non-compete agreement after the start of the residency is a violation of the standards and may negatively affect the residency program&#8217;s accreditation status.\u00a0\u00a0Residents are employees of, and receive salary and benefits from their residency program.
