admin_label=&#8221;Director Eligibility Requirements&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; title_level=&#8221;h3&#8243; title_font=&#8221;|600|||||||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>A person is eligible to serve as the director for an NCOPE accredited residency program when the following requirements are met:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must possess a minimum of a bachelor\u2019s degree in O&amp;P, post baccalaureate certificate in orthotics and\/or prosthetics or a master\u2019s in O&amp;P or be equivalent to ISPO Orthotist\/Prosthetist (for residency directors who were active on or before March 15, 2011, the director is exempt from this educational standard)<\/li>\n<li>Be credentialed in the profession of Orthotics &amp; Prosthetics or hold a professional license as is required to practice independently by the state in which he\/she is employed<\/li>\n<li>Must have 4 years post-certification or licensure experience<\/li>\n<li>Must have completed all three modules of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ncope.org\/index.php\/home-page-v2\/residency-and-professional-experiences\/residency-directors-mentors-and-administrator-information\/residency-residency-program-development-course\/\">NCOPE Online Residency Development Course<\/a> or the Approved Clinical Mentor Course (ACM)<\/li>\n<li>Cannot be a currently registered resident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;Residency Program Mentor Eligibility Requirements&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Mentor Eligibility Requirements&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; title_level=&#8221;h3&#8243; title_font=&#8221;|600|||||||&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>A person is eligible to serve as a mentor for an NCOPE accredited residency program when the following requirements are met:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must possess a state license, national certification, or international recognition as an orthotist\/prosthetist<\/li>\n<li>Must have successfully completed formalized orthotic\/prosthetic education from a CAAHEP accredited program, a former O&amp;P accredited education in the area supervision is being provided or be equivalent to ISPO Orthotist\/Prosthetist<\/li>\n<li>Must have 2 years post-certification or licensure experience<\/li>\n<li>Must be principally located at the residency training site<\/li>\n<li>Must have completed all three modules of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ncope.org\/index.php\/home-page-v2\/residency-and-professional-experiences\/residency-directors-mentors-and-administrator-information\/residency-residency-program-development-course\/\">NCOPE Online Residency Development Course<\/a> or the Approved Clinical Mentor Course (ACM)<\/li>\n<li>Cannot be a currently registered resident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Director \/ Mentor Responsibilities:<\/h3>\n<p>NCOPE directors and mentors have specific responsibilities, which are identified in the Standards of Accreditation for the Orthotic\/Prosthetic Residency Program and the NCOPE Policies and Procedures Manual. The Director \/ Mentor assumes these responsibilities which include the following prior to and during a residency program:<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;1. Provide the resident the program&#8217;s policies regarding duties and obligations&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Duties and Obligations&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Duration of the resident\u2019s training program<\/li>\n<li>Expected weekly hours of resident\u2019s attendance including on-call duties when applicable<\/li>\n<li>The resident\u2019s compensation, which cannot be contingent upon productivity of the resident<\/li>\n<li>The resident\u2019s health, professional and leave benefits<\/li>\n<li>The resident\u2019s professional liability protection for both internal and external clinical settings<\/li>\n<li>Requirements for residency completion and awarding of certificate\n<ul>\n<li><em>A residency program must at minimum meet the Standards for Accreditation for the Orthotic\/Prosthetic Residency Training Program, but reserves the right to define goals and objectives beyond what is defined by the standards<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Any non-compete or other legal agreements must be completed\u00a0<strong>prior\u00a0<\/strong>to the start of the residency program\n<ul>\n<li>NCOPE&#8217;s Position Statement on Non-Compete Agreements:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ncope.org\/index.php\/home-page-v2\/residency-and-professional-experiences\/ncope-position-statements\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NCOPE Position Statements<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;2. Ensure the resident participates in patient care, under supervision, commensurate with his\/her level of advancement and responsibility and adhere to policies and procedures of the residency site.&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Patient Care&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Patient care provided by the resident and the mentor must be consistent with current clinical care guidelines and accepted standards of practice which are established through accreditation of the practice<\/li>\n<li>The resident must be given progressively increasing responsibility in the delivery of patient care services based upon demonstrated clinical competence<\/li>\n<li>The resident must not transition to indirect supervision until they have been deemed competent for the specific procedure they are performing using the competency forms with NCOPE Tracker<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;3. Verify that the resident is maintaining comprehensive procedure logs and all patient documentation is cosigned within 2 weeks of the visit&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Case Logs &#8211; Tracker&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All patient interactions equal to or greater than 15 minutes in duration must be logged by the resident over the entire duration of the residency<\/li>\n<li>Case entries must be performed no more than 2 weeks after the patient interaction occurs<\/li>\n<li>All fields are required with the exception of:\n<ul>\n<li>Outcome Measures<\/li>\n<li>Patient Goals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The above 2 fields only need to be completed when it is part of the patient encounter.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ncope.org\/index.php\/home-page-v2\/residency-and-professional-experiences\/ncope-tracker\/\">NCOPE Tracker Information Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Director \/ Mentor login for NCOPE Tracker: <a href=\"https:\/\/ncopetracker.org\/admin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/ncopetracker.org\/admin<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;4. Submit quarterly documentation within 30 days of the end of each quarter&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Quarterly Documentation&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The following forms can be submitted using NCOPE Tracker\n<ul>\n<li>Quarterly Evaluation of the Resident<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;5. Submit the following documentation at the designated time frames&#8221; admin_label=&#8221;Additional Documentation&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The following forms can be submitted using NCOPE Tracker\n<ul>\n<li>NCOPE\/CAAHEP Education Program Employer Survey &#8211; any time during the residency<\/li>\n<li>Final Evaluation of the Resident &#8211; within 2 weeks of the end of the residency<\/li>\n<li>Orthotic Competency Forms (7 Total) &#8211; once competency is achieved<\/li>\n<li>Prosthetic Competency Forms (5 Total) &#8211; once competency is achieved<\/li>\n<li>Technical Competency Form &#8211; once competency is achieved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Competence is <strong>defined as having sufficient knowledge, judgment and skill to provide appropriate treatment interventions. <\/strong>It does not suggest an expert or mastery level of ability or skills.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_toggle][et_pb_toggle title=&#8221;6.
