One of our goals at the NCOPE is to help recruit students for education and training in orthotic and prosthetic technology at the four colleges that offer this educational experience. One aim of our goal is to help fill the vacant positions for technicians in O&P practices around the United States. Experienced technicians are retiring or moving to different industries. This change is accompanied by newer clinicians\/practitioners who are often not exposed to fabrication at the same level as in past years.<\/p>\n

Another reoccurring factor for each practice is the increasing costs of consumable fabrication supplies for fabrication production. Because of these increased costs, the role of capable and proficient technicians is even more critical to help sustain financial security for the practice.<\/p>\n

The four colleges offering an O&P Technology Program are: Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois; Alisha Brennon, Program Director (815) 280-2627; Bluegrass Community and Technology College in Lexington, Kentucky; Sadie Bowman, Program Coordinator (859) 246-6883;\u00a0 Spokane Falls Community College in Spokane, Washington; Ambrose Cavegn, Program Director, (509) 533-3732 and Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Joanne Kenton, Co-Director, (651) 444-2087.<\/p>\n

If you know of a person, young or old, who may be seeking a career start or a change of career, please provide information about these colleges. The colleges offer classes in daytime and evening hours and are happy to provide information about the O&P Tech Programs.<\/p>\n
