Gila Baer is a Prosthetist Resident at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL. She holds a Masters of Prosthetics and Orthotics from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Prosthetics-Orthotics Center and a Bachelors of Biomedical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology. She plans to use her award funds to attend the Myoelectric Control Symposium (MEC) in August 2022. MEC is a triennial conference hosted by the University of New Brunswick in Canada that focuses specifically on the role myoelectric in O&P. The conference attracts an international audience and group of experts to discuss topics such as phantom limb pain, pattern recognition, and advanced prosthetic design.
