Future and Current Residents
Overview
Orthotic / prosthetic residency programs serve as the second half of a practitioner’s education providing a structured real-world professional experience. The O&P residency standards and guidelines are designed to complement the entry-level academic training provided by graduate level orthotist/prosthetist programs. The residency program must provide comprehensive exposure to a wide variety of patient populations and treatment interventions. The goal of residency is to develop a competent orthotist/prosthetist capable of delivering independent autonomous clinical care.
