A little about Award Winner, Leslie:
My name is Leslie Gabriela Martinez and I am a recent graduate of the Northwestern University Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics Program, MPO 2023. I am currently completing my combined O&P Residency in Phoenix, Arizona. My passion for this profession stems from exposure to challenges within the healthcare setting with hopes to make a difference in the future as a first generation Mexican-American and native Spanish speaker. My passion grew as I was exposed to the intricacies of O&P care during clinical rotations as an undergraduate student at UIowa where I received my Bachelor’s degree. I was soon after asked to join the staff and learn under some great practitioners. Opportunities such as this award have allowed me to continuously progress in my learning and professional experiences post graduate school. I hope to continuously learn and be challenged to develop the necessary skills to improve my future patients’ overall quality of life, holistically.
