The O&P Foundation and The American Board for Certification (ABC), are proud to announce the 2025 recipient of the ABC Resident Travel Award.

This award supports prosthetics and orthotics resident’s travel to the American Academy of Orthotics Prosthetists (AAOP) Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium so that they may present results of their National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) Directed Study.

 

Kelly Moton MS

Development of a Psycho-educational Support Group Program for Newly Braced Scoliosis Patients – A Pilot Study.  

Kelly recently completed her Master’s in O&P at Baylor College of Medicine. She holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Biomechanics and a minor in Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. She is a professional member of the American Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics and has volunteered with multiple programs supporting athletes with disabilities throughout her residency.  She will begin working as a board-eligible CPO with Boston O&P in January 2025.

“I am grateful for the Orthotic and Prosthetic Foundation for Education and Research and I am looking forward to attending and presenting my research at the 2025 Academy Annual Meeting. This opportunity to present on psycho-educational support groups for scoliosis patients will hopefully lead to more positive outcomes and experiences for scoliosis patients and their families.”
