Orthotic & Prosthetic Technician Program Newsletter
Insights From the Editor-In-Chief
Well, now that we have suffered through this amazingly very hot summer, it is back to school and work for most of us.
One of my responsibilities with NCOPE is to find authors to write interesting articles with information that will help build and strengthen the overall knowledge base of readers. The articles can focus on fabrication topics or issues affecting and influencing the O&P profession. Articles can identify and offer solutions to personnel issues that need resolution. Articles can describe thoughts and feelings about your work, your perspective on patient care or management issues, or your role in the O&P practice profession.
So, who wishes to sign up? I am seeking articles for the spring issue of the O&P Tech Newsletter that will be distributed in May 2024. The articles need to be 500 – 2,500 words in length and can be provided as a very rough draft. I will edit the article and return it for approval before publishing. The deadline date for receipt of a rough draft for the spring issue is February 29, 2024. Photos to accompany the article are also needed and appreciated.
While the Employer Meet and Greet (EMG) sessions for O&P practitioners are filled this fall, EMG presentations for the 2024 winter and spring will be scheduled beginning in October 2023. The EMG sessions are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays 2 – 3 times per month and last 35 – 55 minutes. The sessions are Zoomed into the four O&P tech programs so that the students can visually see the facility space and ask questions about working at the practice. If you have an interest and wish to introduce your practice to O&P technician students at the four colleges across the country, please let me know.
