A residency program becomes accredited by meeting the NCOPE Residency Standards and completing an NCOPE Residency Program Application.
There are specific requirements for becoming an NCOPE accredited residency site including:
- Access to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations and orthoses/prostheses to ensure that the resident has the opportunity to demonstrate competence.
- Having a residency director and mentor(s) that meet the qualifications to serve as residency program faculty.
- Timely submission of required documentation by both the resident and the residency program faculty.
